A veteran of 10 years in the title insurance industry, Mario Lan offers broad experience and
perspective at both the underwriter and agency levels. From 1997 to 2002, Mario served as
Counsel at First American Title Insurance Company’s New York City Branch Office. He cleared
files covering complex multi-million dollar commercial transactions involving in-state as well
as out-of-state lenders, purchasers and sellers and their legal representatives. Mario prepared
educational presentations for the Company’s in-house counsel on a wide array of topics, including
Condominium Law and the applicability of the Hill-Burton Act to real estate transactions involving
current or past medical facilities. His “Introduction to Title Insurance” presentation has been
offered at several law firms in the metropolitan area. Mario joined Horizon Land Services in
November of 2002 where he serves as In-House Counsel. He received his B.A. from Hunter College,
an M.A. in Government from New York University and his J.D. from New York University School of Law.
